FIRST ARCHERY DEER

Brian Cameron (Bow Hunter, CBH Member)

South Dakota, 2008

Mike Filipiak and I took a trip out to North Dakota. We met Brian
Swanson out there. Mike got a buck but Brian and I came home empty
handed. Brian Swanson and I (Brian Cameron) went back to North Dakota
for a second time about two weeks later and I harvested my First
archery deer. It is a doe but a pretty big one so I am still very
happy with what i got. I quartered it and brought it home. Mike helped
me butcher the meat the day after I got home. This was the first time
I have ever processed the entire deer myself. I would say this was one
of the best experiences of my life.

CLYDE HEINEMAN’S BUCK

“I shot this buck on November 7th on a farm in Iowa county, Wisconsin.

I was rattling at about 6:25 am, put down the rattling bag and picked up my bow. I waited about two minutes when I saw this 9 point walking toward me from the east along my edge. He stopped in front of me and turned at 20 yards to go up the trail to my right when I shot. We tracked him about 400 yards onto the next property where another bowhunter in his stand saw the deer go down in some nearby trees. Estimated weight at 180 pounds, yet to be scored.”
